Seorang pemimpin besar dari timur Nusantara yang namanya harum dalam sejarah maritim Indonesia.
Beliau adalah Sultan Baabullah, Sultan Ternate yang memerintah pada abad ke-16 dan dikenal sebagai sosok pemberani, cerdas, serta memiliki tekad kuat dalam menjaga kedaulatan negerinya.
Pada masa itu, wilayah Maluku menjadi pusat perdagangan rempah-rempah dunia. Banyak bangsa asing datang untuk menguasai jalur laut dan kekayaan alamnya. Namun Sultan Baabullah berdiri teguh membela tanah airnya.
Dengan strategi yang matang dan dukungan rakyatnya, beliau memimpin perjuangan besar melawan Portugis. Setelah perjuangan panjang, Sultan Baabullah berhasil mengusir Portugis dari Ternate pada tahun 1575. Kemenangan ini menjadikannya salah satu tokoh penting dalam sejarah perlawanan Nusantara.
Karena pengaruh dan kepemimpinannya yang luas, Sultan Baabullah dikenal dengan gelar Penguasa 72 Pulau. Kekuasaan Ternate pada masa itu membentang luas di kawasan timur Indonesia.

A great leader from eastern Nusantara whose name shines in Indonesian maritime history.
He was Sultan Baabullah, the Sultan of Ternate who ruled during the 16th century and was known as a brave, wise, and determined leader who defended his homeland.
At that time, the Maluku Islands were the centre of the global spice trade. Many foreign powers came seeking control over the sea routes and natural wealth of the region. Yet Sultan Baabullah stood firmly to protect his land.
With strong strategy and the support of his people, he led a great resistance against the Portuguese. After years of struggle, Sultan Baabullah successfully expelled the Portuguese from Ternate in 1575. This victory made him one of the important figures in the history of resistance in the archipelago.
Because of his wide influence and leadership, Sultan Baabullah became known as the Ruler of 72 Islands. During his reign, the influence of Ternate extended widely across eastern Indonesia.
The story of Sultan Baabullah teaches us that courage, unity, wisdom, and love for the homeland are powerful forces to protect a nation.
